My friend Jao's church has 800-1200 members and 6 elders and no deacons (not including pastor's). He thinks that they need more elders. What is the normal ratio?

If your church has a different government, what are the titles and ratios of your church?

  1. The only positions in the church are elders (also called pastors), deacons, ministers and missionaries.  We are a  small church with one preacher and two elders.  No deacons.

  2. We are a small church (under 100) and have 3 elders and 1 deacon.  You should have an elder per 50 at least would be my suggestion.
