What is the reaction involved in lighting methane bubbles on fire?

My chemistry teacher wants me to write the balanced equation of an experiment we did the other day. We mixed soap and water, and made bubbles using the methane hose. Then, we picked up the bubbles and lit them on fire using a match.

  1. I do this, you can do it in your hands (make sure you wet them first) and if you're bald on your head.  

    You put methane gas through soapy water and then ignite.  The methane reacts with oxygen to make carbon dioxide and water, so your reaction is:

    CH4 (g) + 2O2(g) --> CO2 (g) + 2H2O (g)
