What is the real reason why the Green Bay Packers let Brett Farve go the NY Jets?

Have you been watching ESPN or anything? The Packers committed to Aaron Rodgers as their starter because they've put up with Favre long enough. They offered Favre a chance to come back shortly after he retired and he didn't, so they got rid of him.

i've been wondering the same thing- brett hasnt reached the end yet and i think he will still do better than aaron rodgers. 2 tell u the truth- i dont think rodgers is so good. but i can sort of understand the packers- by the end of this season or by the latest-the end of the next season- the brett battery will finish and this is probably the most they'll ever b able 2 get 4 him. but im a jets fan so i'm happy :)

Because he wanted to be starting QB for the packers again, after they had moved on. so he really wanted to be a QB again, so they traded him, cause they weren't throwing rodgers to the back burner.

Because the NY Jets are not in Green Bay's division or their Conference for that matter and they don't play the Jets till 2010 (in NY).

There are two big reasons to him being traded.

1. The Packers were going to bench him but then they would still have to pay him big money just for playing left bench. They dont want all that dead money, its not because hes injured, its because they just want him to retire, and thats not worth millions of dollars.

2. The relationship between him, the coaches and GM is not so good.

Thats why he left on of the practices. If they kept him on the team, there would be arguments and cursing every single day, plus Brett could probably be a damage to the team chemistry.

B/c Favre is a whiny baby and the Packers management was sick of him.  Personally, I would have let him stay on the Packers and made him 3rd string.  That would have served his pompous a** right.  But, honestly, the Jets can have him.  I'm not a Packers fan by any means even though I live in WI, but I dislike Favre even more then the rest of the team.  GO BEARS!
