  1. I thought they called them the "GIB" Guy in Back. lol. Actually jle4044 is correct with his answer.

  2. RIO - Radio Intercept Officer

  3. wingman, Jesters Dead!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. In the Air Force the Rear, is called a Weapons Systems Officer. WSO, or Wizzo.

They are still used in some aircraft, most notably is the F-15E Strike Eagle.

The Navy calls them a RIO. same job different title.

  5. Does it matter since they don't really fly any more?

But the guy is called a REO i think

  6. He's called the "RIO", or Radar Intercept Officer.

Actually, now, if he's still in back of an F-14, he's called "chopped liver". The F-14 is not only out of commission, they are all being destroyed at the Aircraft Boneyard in Arizona to try and prevent Iran from getting their hands on any spare parts (they're still fly them, but they're in pretty bad shape.) Probably a few in museums here and there, all rendered unflyable.
