  2. Like most animals, it went probably went extinct because it was unable to adapt to enviromental changes.

A shortage of evidence doesn't allow any reasonable explanation whatsoever.  The genus is known mainly from very isolated material from the Wealden of southeast England and the Isle of Wight.  The approximate size is known, something is understood about its relationships, and a predominantly fish diet is possible.  Trying to account for its extinction from that would be pointless.
