  1. Basically Russia still thinks that it owns that region and don't like it that Georgia is both independent and seeking stronger ties with the West.

  2. South Ossetia breaking away from Georgia and Georgia trying to reclaim it causing conflict, and Russia intervening on SO's behalf.

  3. South Ossetia is trying to unite with North Ossetia, which is a part of russia, so they are trying to break away from Georgia. And since russia is a nation of war, for whatever reasons, they will always look for war, so they gave russian passports to all Ossetians, and now use that as an excuse to go rescue fellow russians. There's russian politics for you, I hope NATO goes to help Georgia and kick some russian ***.

  5. dude stfu and dont even dare to talk about Russia that way.

i am Russian and i dont have anything against America  but Americans like you just p**s me off. Americans like you are the reason why such things as 'cold wars' and world war 2's start. please dont even dare write anymore. we all want peace and not violence.

  6. Russian President Dmitry Medvedev says that Russia became involved to force Georgia into a cease-fire with South Ossetia (a Georgian breakaway region) and to prevent Georgia from re-taking South Ossetia.  Apparently, it is the desire of South Ossetians to be reabsorbed into Russia, and Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said that Georgia had effectively lost the right to rule South Ossetia.  Georgian officials, however, say it's just unprovoked aggression on the part of Russia.
