  1. First let me say... What? Speak english. Next, there is no spark to a diesel engine. Compression fires off the fuel.

  2. Diesels don't have any spark. The fuel is ignited by the high compression. This is one reason Diesels are more reliable.

  3. diesel engines dont spark. they use 'ci' which is compression ignition instead of 'si' which is spark ignition. diesels have glow plugs. the diesel is ignited when it is squashed/put under pressure by the piston. it then explodes, this is why older diesels sound rough when running

  4. diesel engines dont have a spark it just gets compressed when it gets compressed it gets hot and expands!

  5. The diesel internal combustion engine differs from the gasoline powered Otto cycle by using a higher compression of the fuel to ignite the fuel rather than using a spark plug ("compression ignition" rather than "spark ignition").

In the diesel engine, air is compressed adiabatically with a compression ratio typically between 15 and 20. This compression raises the temperature to the ignition temperature of the fuel mixture which is formed by injecting fuel once the air is compressed.

The ideal air-standard cycle is modeled as a reversible adiabatic compression followed by a constant pressure combustion process, then an adiabatic expansion as a power stroke and an isovolumetric exhaust. A new air charge is taken in at the end of the exhaust, as indicated by the processes a-e-a on the diagram.

Since the compression and power strokes of this idealized cycle are adiabatic, the efficiency can be calculated from the constant pressure and constant volume processes. The input and output energies and the efficiency can be calculated from the temperatures and specific heats

  6. diesel engines compress the air fuel mixture to pressures above 450 psi to 850 psi causing spontaineous combustion. The clatter noise you hear is an ignition concussion caused by the sudden ignition of the diesel fuel. The heat of the combustion chamber and the high pressures in the combustion chamber are all that is needed to ignite diesel fuel.
