  2. Olive oil was a highly prized, valuable, important commodity. Olive trees take many many years to grow, meaning long land and time investment before reward. It's also delicious, and smells nice. So, in the low tech days in which biblical events took place, olive oil was very important, and was used for many sacred occasions and rituals. The word "Christ" means, literally, "anointed one"--that is, someone anointed with oil as a symbol of their holiness and importance.

In Israel, when the olive seeds are crushed, the 1st batch of oil will be used to light up God's temple.  After that, the 2nd batch will be used for medicine purpose then 3rd batch will be used for soap.  It signifies that when Jesus died on the cross few thousands years ago, the initial part of the cruxification process is for us to be able to walk in the light, then when he took the stripes, it enables us to be healed, and finally when everything was done on the cross, it cleanses us from sins.
