  1. It is recommended to change the belt every 60,000 miles. Some mechanics if the car has had light duty will stretch that some but remember on that car if it breaks you are in a world of hurt.

  2. If your timing belt has never been changed and is the original one you need to have it changed immediately. Here's why if your belt has never been changed out then it is almost 12 yrs old. No belt was meant to stay pliant for that long. You also have to consider that you can have a cam seal leak and may have gotten oil on the belt which can cause it to deteriorate faster.

Have the timing belt service done and have your water pump changed out as well. Also have them inspect your belt tensioner and replace them and your cam seals if necessary. With the proper maintenance your Honda will give you years and years of service its time to get this done. Make sure you use a Honda certified mechanic so that the service is performed properly.

  3. Right now.  Or... 60,000 miles.

  4. usually at 30 K

  5. Most of the answers are saying between 30 and 60,000 miles.  I disagree, I own a Honda, and have replaced timing belts on other cars and I have always gone by the rule of thumb that under normal driving the timing belt is changed @ 100,000 miles.  It is only under severe conditions, (a work truck, race car, long periods of time in extreme cold, or extreme heat, etc.) that the belt should be replaced at 60,000 miles.

If you have your owner's manual it should tell you in there. If you are not planning on doing it yourself just ask your mechanic, if you are I would suggest buying either a Chilton's or Hayne's repair manual for your car.  This will give you all the info you need, detailed instructions and some pictures.

    GOod Luck

  6. 60,000-80,000 under severe conditions.100,000 uder normal conditions.
