  1. If you're really well trained with a marathon, 3 days, sometimes you're out the next day. Depends on how your body is conditioned. I agree with the poster above.

  2. Personnaly, I give it a day off before I start doing anything much.

The day after Ill perhaps sit in a pool for a bit and wiggle my legs but thats all. The next day Ill jog gently for maybe 10 minutes - it gets the blood flowing through your muscles and flushes out the toxins, and you can also assess if any of your joints are hurting (as opposed to tired and sore) - so yo ucan get them sorted now before training again. Another day off rest and the rest of the week taking it easy. After that I tend to carry on as normal.

  3. Some recommend 1day off for each mile you ran (26 days for a marathon.  This is a good thing to do (keep running low mileage 1-2 days a week will help maintain your running) Rest days plays an important role for us runners and alot of us tend to ignore this.  Rest give our muscles time to repair and restore and prevent from any injuries.  My last marathon I rested for a week and a 1/2.  I feared I would be out of shape.  I regretted not taking a longer break from running and should of done more cycling to maintain my fitness.  Now for my next I think I will rest for 3 weeks so I can fully recover and set new goals.

Here is a good website that I like getting information and its can be quite helpful.

Good luck and rest up!  :)

  4. Rest meaning before you run another marathon? About 6 months.

Rest meaning to run or start training again, then it depends on how beat up you are, but usually  a few days to a week, just take it easy for a couple of weeks.
