  1. 7ft is not too small, infact places like australia they use a 7ft tables to play competion on. its obvious the bigger the table the harder it is and its also good for practicing :)

  2. It really depends on the size of the room you're planning to put it in.  You have to be able to manuever around the entire table with a standard pool cue without hitting any walls or furniture.

  3. 7' is the standard size of a bar table. Almost all leagues play on 7' tables, and many amatuer tournaments do as well.

However, most serious players prefer larger tables. The most common size home table is actually 8', and almost all pool hall use 9' tables. 99% of professional tournaments are also played on 9' tables.

My suggestion is to get the biggest table you can fit into your room and can afford. If happen to be getting a great deal on a 7' table you may be happy with it, but if you're serious about the sport and have it sitting in the middle of a huge room you'll soon be longing for a larger table.

I have provided a link to a room chart so that you can see just what size table you're room can accommodate.
