  1. 59

  2. Well if you use the metric system your answer will be 59.

  3. hoss radbourn

  4. JACK CHESBRO 41 wins in 1901 on the NYY

  5. The most wins in a season is 59 by Old Hoss Radbourn, pitching for the Providence Grays in 1884. Most of the all-time single season win leaders are from that era, since those guys just threw and threw on barely any rest... you have to go down to number 25 on the all-time list to find a player who pitched in the 20th century, and that is still from way back in 1904 (Jack Chesbro with 41 wins), and nobody from after the First World War makes the Top 100 list. Even Walter Johnson and Cy Young's best seasons were only 36 wins (1913 and 1892 respectively).
