What is the record for the most cookbooks.?

My dad has over 700 and i want to know if he is close to the record.

p.s. I know, he has way tooooooooooooo much

Wow, that's quite the collection! I thought I had a lot. You must eat really well at your house, I hope he does all the cooking - Bonus a man that cooks!

Well I once read somewhere that Nigella Lawson is an avid collector and her personal collection boasts almost 1200!

But your dad's collection is pretty impressive & I thought I had alot!  He must really have a passion for cooking, lucky you (& your mom)!

Like shoes, you can never have too many cookbooks! Now what your dad can do is find new homes for them...If HE wants.

I've collected cookbooks for over 4 decades and have have a few thousand, but now down to about 1200. (Over the course of my collection I've probably had over 5,000.) One room is devoted to the collection with ceiling to floor bookcases. One food editor I visited had over 4,000 in her workroom. Thought I died and went to heaven!

But have your dad focus on a specific area--church cookbooks or Junior League cookbooks. 1st Editions, etc.Collecting cookbooks has become a fast growing real collectible because of its link to the past. (My oldest cookbook is from 1893.)

Universities are BIG into getting cookbooks into their collections. I know the curator of cookbooks for my home state and he's been collection cookbooks from my state for a few decades and have over 25,000 in the collection
