What is the red, sweet spice that comes on pineapple when you buy it on side of the road in Hawaii? Thanks!?

I was out in Hawaii several years ago, I stopped by one of the roadside stands up on north shore. I bought some pineapple in a bag. It had a red spice on it that was sweet and delicious. I'm trying to order some, but need a local to tell me what it is.
