  1. Probably the onset of some sort of a civilized culture. There has been a program on the history channel about the meeting of cro-magnon man and neandrethal , and how the two cultures differed but then again were distinctly related in terms of adapting to a life of hunter and hunted. Even though cro-magnon man was more highly developed, the neandrethal people were the first to have an organized religion. So basically it was the beginning of social sciences, from religion to psychology.


  2. the past shapes the present and guides us into the future.  we try not to repeat history.  soci /anthro gives us a solid foundation to understand how we lived, had lived and therefore knows better how to live.

    but alas, few realizes this imperative. esp the politicians, religious leaders. they still dont learn fr mistakes.

    societies evolve - it gives rise to other sciences - political institutions, social grpings, new inventions as brain power is stimulated by our social surroundings. we see others do this and that and we adapt, adopt
