  1. Stratification is done by means of a mixture of class and status markers. For example, the Registrar-General, responsible for the decennial census in the United Kingdom, first produced a stratified table of occupations in 1911. The table noted both a person's occupation and his or her class or power position within that description. They may have held a role for themselves as employed by another, or they could have held responsibility for employing others, (higher status),  Ultimately, the status of occupations is justified as to that which most people think the status of a position implies or infers.

Reference to power and control over the means of production may also be balanced and manipulated by political intervention. The power play of politics has been seen to affect so many avenues of life, and will attempt to assert greater control and be more influential when coercing the many with far less attention and regard for the few -(especially those who lack power or money).
