  1. OK, real, real simple

Things are bits of reality that we perceive

Thoughts are how we interpret and interact with "things"

Language puts word to thought (and, along the way, things)

  2. Language is the way we share our thoughts with another person about the things we hear, see, feel, touch and taste and even imagine in our own minds "eye".

Languages can be transmitted by the sounds or spoken words, movements such as sound languages or gestures, touch such as a tapping of a code on one's skin,

on and off elctrical signals or pulsing light or radio waves printed symbols on a page of paper such as letters and even pictures.

A language is a common understanding we both have for a given sound, gesture, touch, smell , taste or an image or a  sight has for both of us.
