  1. It is important because if you are taking nursing, and plan to do that as a carreer, you will have to know the social aspects of the community that you are working with. Ex. Culture, Ethnicity, behavior.


  2. sociology is invaluable in nursing.  Pay no attention to the previous answerer.  I've practiced nursing for 20+ yrs.  You must deal with the public.  The public isn't all like those that raised you.  You have to have a feeling, some understanding of cultures, backgrounds and even group dynamics to deal with ppl in the stressful encounters with health-care workers.  face anytime  a health care worker deals with the general population in  the healthcare setting, they are stressed.

  3. Absolutely none. It is interjected by social scientists who think it has validity. Just pass it and you will never have to think about it again, Training to be a police officer also includes sociological nonsense.
