  1. Relevance to what old top? It's a slight misquotation; here it as from the end of Act 1 Scene 2  being said by a cocky servant to Romeo.

    "Now I'll tell you without asking: my Master is the great

    rich Capulet; and if you be not of the house of Montagues,

    I pray, come and crush a cup of wine.  Rest you merry!"

    It's importance to the play is that having learned of the shindig going on Romeo then gatecrashes it for sport - even though he IS of the house of Montague and shouldn't be there - and of course he sees Juliet for the first time, whereupon they fall in love at first sight - and the rest of the misery kicks off.

    I suppose its relevance is that if the servant doesn't tell Romeo, he doesn't go to the Capulets house, doesn't see Juliet, etcetera and so on. Except that they're "star-crossed lovers" and would have met at some stage (no pun intended) anyway right?
