He's a German-American and don't believe he's Jewish.

More importantly, he's a neoconservative, and one of the original members of the Project for A New American Century, the group which urged war on Iraq from 1996 on. Wolfowitz, Cheney, and Rumsfeld were also members.

It's been said that Wolfowitz's problems as president of the World Bank grew out of the fact that he was an architect of the war on Iraq. The new guy, if not an architect of the war, was certainly an early planner and war monger. An anonymous World Bank official told the Washington Post today that  Zoellick was capable "But he's still from the same people who brought you the Iraq war, the same people who brought you Paul Wolfowitz and Donald Rumsfeld."
