  1. I bought Pillsbury pizza dough. My son rolled it out, poured some marinara sauce on it, sprinkled mozzarella cheese and I baked it. He was so excited to make his own pizza.

I also cut up veggies for him and he put them into a pot of water and made soup. He loves to cook with me. There are so many simple things you can do. Just have the preparations made and let them mix, roll, and assemble. Just help them by putting things in the oven or on the stove.

  2. first you dont say how old the children are that you are working with, 2nd you dont say around which topic you are working with.

there are tons of children's cook books and in most of your child development books there are sections with recipies in them both for eating and for making things like playdough, or goop etc.

if you dont have your books then try the library in your area

materials for cooking with children dont really differ from those adults use except you should not use glass items, and if you need to use knives there MUST be total attention to the child or children are using.

the best recipies to use with children are easist ones, or ones with very few steps to complete, in my classrooms we have done ones as simple as butter(only need to measure and shake) all the way to bread(we made the dough but actually baked frozen loafs due to timeframe) and made pizzas several ways, but my all time favorite is "stone soup" every one brings something and everyone can help peel, chop, stir, and of course eat.

  3. here is a website you can go to for ideas:

    http://www.recipesource.com/misc/kids/in...

you can also make sequencing cards to go with your recipe, for the children to follow.  If you were to do "Bugs on a log" you could have a card that shows all the ingredients needed (celery, peanut butter, chocolate chips), the next could show spreading peanut butter on the celery , the next putting the chocolate chips on the peanut butter.  I would also laminate the cards for future use.   Have fun.. :-)

  4. Kids could:

make apple sauce by cooking down the apples with their teacher.

make pizzas by spreading out sauce on a pizza shell and then putting their favourite toppings on the pizzas and baking them with their teachers

the teacher could melt some chocolate and the kids could dip marshmallows in it and then roll around the marshmallows in sprinkles
