  1. Dependent upon the state in which you plan on being employed as a paralegal determines what responsibility you will hold based on your education and the state laws.

Paralegals usually work for law offices under the supervision of an attorney(s).  However, in some states a paralegal is allowed to act as an independent contractor and work for different attorneys.

However, you will need at least an Associates Degree in Paralegal Studies or Law to get into the field.  As it stands at this time a Bachelors Degree with experience is preferred.

Paralegals can also hold different titles dependent upon the state, such as legal secretary, clerk for the court, paralegal, senior paralegal, and legal assistant.

You must also determine what type of law you want to be involved in.  The role of a paralegal is a very demanding and high paced work experience.  You need to be able to work independently, detail oriented, and well versed in the law in which you are employed in.

As a paralegal you can earn a substantial amount of money dependent upon your education and experience.  In addition, it is a good idea to look into the demand for paralegals in your area at this current time.  In some areas, the marked is over saturated with paralegals and it will be difficult for you to get your foot in the door.

If I can be of any further assistance, please feel free to add additional details or email me.

    Best wishes.
