I've always thought that Australians seemed like really cool folks. My mom works with an Australian, and she is nice and just like any other person around here. I know somewhat how you feel, though. Being from Alabama, everyone else in the states seems to think we ride tractors to school and have s*x with our siblings, which is the most ignorant...or better yet STUPID, idealization ever. But oh well, people are always going to have an assumption about what certain people from other places are like, and most time they are going to be very wrong.

Well, I've always seen Australians as being cool and laid back. I know Australia as a great place to surf and enjoy other water sports. So I would say that is not true, consider yourself lucky to be an Aussie.
