I want to play my x-box, wii, ps2 and use my computer on a fairly big screen and i think it would be really cool to put a projector in my room. I have about a 5 foot by 4 little rectangle that i would throw the image on while i am using it in my room, but then i want to put out a really big image when i take it outside to watch movies by the pool. (preferably 60inches or bigger) AND i am looking to spend hopefully under $400.00 Oh...and i am new to the whole projector thing so any advise would help...THANKS!!!

  1. Ebay, craig's list, classified ads for used equipment. Those are going to be the places to shop. Get the brightest one you can find in your price range and be sure there is a way to hook up your PC, like RGBHV (Dsub VGA 15 pin) or DVI.

  2. All the game systems you mentions are only 480p resolution, and will look great on a 480p projector.

But the PC needs at least a 720p projector to look great.

  3. It will be tough for $400 bucks but it can do be done as long as you stick with 480p.  I would avoid the Auction sites and such because there is NO way to tell how many hours the lamp has left and that $400 pj could become a $100 pj needing a new $300 lamp in a week.

I'd go here and look for a manufacturer refub.  That way you know the lamp works and most offer at least a short warranty period.

My first indoor/Outdoor models were the Epson S3 and S4.  A really good oj and the replacement lamp is only like $135.
