What is the right thing to do if your in a snake country????

I am goin in an island for a holiday which is called lagoon island and i am scared of snakes.What shall i do to keep myself safe and bewared????

Dress appropriately. While long pants may not always be best it's a good idea to at least wear good boots and socks when walking through undergrowth where snakes might be found.

Leave well enough alone. Most snakes are quite shy, even the highly venomous ones. If you see one, do not disturb. Move away slowly.

Take a cue from the locals. If you arrive at the beach and find that no one is in the water, do not be the first.

Swim with others. If you just want to sunbathe and splash in the waves a bit, do it on a public beach where they are likely to have the first aid needed for initial treatment for an array of ailments.

Ask around before using beaches or swimming holes in more deserted areas. Park rangers or local authorities should be able to tell you which are inhabited by dangerous animals.

Stay out of brush and wear long pants.

If I'm outdoors I carry a .22 pistol for snake defense, but then again I have a permit for that.
