What is the role of color in advertising?

not really sure what your question is but color is just as important as the design. color layouts are CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow black) and RGB (red green black). These are the types of color layout that the printer will use and its important to know which one the printer will be using because if your set up on your computer to use RGB and the printer is set up to use CMYK the colors wont come out the way youve chosen for it to. it'll all be off and wont look right. most printers use cmyk.

It is very important.  You are trying to attract everyones attention.  Colors will make it stand out, it will also make it easier to read, granted you are using the right colors, like yellow and black, neon colors, pay attention to the signs the goverment uses, (we need to anyway) stop signs, yield signs, then watch the billboards, you will see some that are easy to read, catch your eye, and give you important info.
