What is the role of education in the development of culture?

  1. Education should reflect culture, not lead it to a different arena.

    Ex.  The desire for s*x Ed classes, multiculturalism, following Muslim beliefs in public schools, bilingual ed., all followed the urging of society or what the administration felt ...

    I see the current issues are of admin leading society to accept their pronouncements of what we SHOULD be doing so I rest my case


  2. I think being educated should be synonymous with being cultured.  Education should promote literature, art, music, etc. in order to encourage citizens who are well-rounded, empathic, have critical thinking skills, etc.

  3. A society is a group of individuals that share many of the same ideas, beliefs, customs, and morality. This group of traits comprises culture. Education is a way of ensuring future generations will be able to function properly within the established culture. Many of our ideas are those of our parents, and others that have raised us from childhood. If a culture is being developed, the leaders of that society would raise people to carry on in the same manner they have, as best they are able.
