  1. Guard cells - 2 of them enclose an opening called a stomata (found on leaves epidermis) which open when the guard cells are turgid and close when the guard cells are flaccid. This opening and closing affects gas exchange between the atmosphere and the plant and the loss of water from the leaves by transpiration.

    SO they control the stomatal opening & closing.
