The teacher needs to provide a wide variety of challenging activities to teach the children the curriculum, then more to extend the really bright ones or help the slower learners.  This will keep the children busy and interested.

Then the teacher needs to set an example and help the children forming warm friendly relationships.

Most important the teacher can never even look like having favourites in the class or do anything that could be taken to be unfair.
