  1. Well, first what does the Constitution of the Austraila say about that?

    But whatever it says, the basic role of Government to help secure the rights of Life, Libery and Property of its citizens. ANd the governments gets the ability to do this from the consent of the governed. The government cannot do anything you can't do because the source of its rights is you and not itself.
