  1. Here's a tip: the more it costs, the safer it is.

But the city overall is pretty safe.

  2. I don't know about places to live in Toronto, but crime is usually low in the city, and it's quite safe to live in.

  3. Just stay out of Scarborough and you'll be fine. The downtown core is my choice because it is near everything I enjoy doing.

  4. Rosedale.

  5. Of the various regions (durham, peel, york, Toronto, etc)...

I think Durham region is safest. I live in Durham region, and I had to work at a job that forced me to read the Durham newspaper for a different reason. Mostly though, I actually read it to see if there was any crime. Durham region isn't highly reported on, and I wanted to see if this was true. And it really is. I have only read in the 6 months I had that duty literally a handful of teenage crimes and a few domestic disputes. Also, I read a lot of drinking and driving incidents. I never really read anything else.

I am not as in touch with York Region, but Peel region has it's share of crime. There are some areas of Brampton and Mississauga where incidents occur as I often see on City TV news.

However, by far, and mabye it's because I attend York University, I feel the Keele, Sheppard, Jane, Finch area of Toronto is by far one of the least safe places. Every month there is a s*x assault or robbery (or both) reported on campus.

I disagree that price of the houses determines the safety level of Toronto. There are plenty of other places in Toronto where price of homes is high and crime is still higher than say the rest of the GTA.
