Question:

What is the safest or best way to take my gambling winnings (say $1,000) out of a casino on the Vegas strip?

Can I have the casino wire the money to my bank (and how much does that cost)? Should I just take a taxi to the nearest bank? If my bank doesn't have a branch in Vegas, do I have to take the cash with me on the plane? Should I just spend it in Vegas?

  1. 1,000 dollars is a measly ten 100 dollar bills that can easily fit into your wallet.

I have determined that the maximum amount of money you can fit into any one wallet is 7000 dollars.  You are in good shape.

When i assault the casinos i carry two wallets with 5k in each, and iv never encountered an issue about it, although i do try to stow my wallets in zippered pockets for extra security in case they were to fall out.

  2. If you are on the strip, you are relatively safe and should be able to carry $1000 without too much concern.

If you won the money at the tables, in chips, and cash in the chips, take the cash. Do not have the casino issue a check to you. If you are concerned, ask the casino to provide security.

If you do not want to carry this cash around, go to a bank or any one of many places in Vegas that issues money orders, and convert it to a money order made payable to you. You could even mail that home. The fees are very small.

Or you could buy something of value in Vegas, and have the store ship it to your house.

  3. Most casinos will print you a check instead of handing you cash if you ask them.  There is a small fee for this, but it's the same as getting a cashier's check at the grocery store.  If you're worried about carrying cash have them print you a check and deposit it at your bank at your earliest convenience.

  4. I would say if i was you, i would probably look for a bank you could put the money in if it's not possible just take the cash from the cage and have a good time with it.

I'm guessing you don't live in Vegas so make the most of a brilliant holidays.

  5. Just carry the cash with you. I'd bet at least 1/3 of the people you see wandering around the strip have $1000 in their pocket at one time or another (until the spend it or lose it gambling).

Every hotel room I've ever been in has a safe in it, so if you don't want to carry it around the rest of the trip, put it in there when you're not in the room.

  6. $1000 is a fairly insignificant amount. I'd just take it in cash from the cage.
