I have noticed drivers who manipulate the steering wheel out of small intersections tend to drive very slowly and need more time to get through the corner. This can be frustrating in congested traffic.

  1. Maybe you should give yourself more time to get places, or take a driving course.

  2. Keep a controlled grip always on the steering wheel at all times.

  3. Let the wheel slip but keep both hands at the ready to grab onto it once it stops. Easiest way is to just keep your hands at 3 and 9 (or 10 and 2) and straighten your fingers letting the steering wheel rub your palms.

  4. let it slip back..........

  5. Coming out of a turn, with your hands geltly on the wheel, let it spin back.

The steering has something built into it called 'caster', which returns the wheel to it's neutral (or forward) position. It works in much the same way as wheels on an office chair. The left-right pivot point of the wheel is behind the axle. When you push a office chair straight, the wheels automatically 'steer' themselves, straighten forwards.

All cars have a built in caster. It is what keeps the car going straight with minimal steering wheel movement.

Sometimes you can give the wheel a bit of a spin to hurry it up.

  6. You should be using the push pull steering method when turning a corner, but I guess they don't teach basic driving techniques over there!

  7. grip on the wheel is the best way but always maintain your spin how fast it will be

  8. How a driver handles the wheel depends on the speed of the vehicle . The faster a vehicle is traveling the quicker the wheel wants to return the neutral (wheels centered) position . Controlling the wheel with just the palm of the hand is the best . This is usually used on highway transition roads . All other times, using a grip is the best way to control the vehicle . It is still pretty much a driver's discretion though.

    All the best.

  9. Always maintain grip on the wheel, just learn to spin it faster. Yes a lot of people don't spin fast enough so they take corners slower to stay within their boundary of control.

If you let the wheel slip and then break traction there will be a delay in your feel of the attitude of the wheels, necessary for corrective steering (without over correcting)

  10. Im 16y/o and have only done 2hrs of driving and personally I would turn it back because I would think its safest.

However, my dad who has had mountains of experience says: rest the palm of one hand on the steering wheel, turn whichever way its supposed to go, and as you come out of the turn with the same hand let go of the wheel and let it spin back to its central position.

Also you may want to re-adjust the positions of the wheels a little bit because it may not be 100% perfect afterwards.

    Hope this helps
