What is the safest way to package a 1.5v AA battery?

I shall be selling a small battery operated clock which is presented in a small cardboard box. I wish to include the battery with the clock, so what is the safest way to do this? Could I just place the battery in the box or would it need packaged in some way for health and safety reasons. Could I simply place it in the battery compartment, placing something over the head to stop it working until it is required?

You can package it in a non-conductive material with the clock.  Not a good idea to package it installed in the clock.  No telling what forces it will encounter during shipping.

Just put it in a small plastic bag to prevent any possible shorts.  A self-sealing sandwich bag should be fine.
