  1. Well this is really a delema. To fill or not to fill. If you carry it empty this is good, but once you put gas in it and use it, it becomes a danger to carry it again. So you have to wait till it cools and then empty it.

I have one in my rv and it is in the storage compartment under the rv. I carry it with as little fuel as possable.

As long as it has fuel in it there are fuems. So if at all possable carry it out side the rv. If you must carry it inside be shure it is in an aera where there is a way to vent the fuems, and open window is good. Be shure there are no open flaims any where need it.

  2. never  never empty as the other sayed fumes explode not gas and if you must then with a window open ect... and do not smoke on best fill it with watter and disconect the fule line (before the filter or replace the filter befor you use it.)

  3. Safest way is to disconnect the fuel lines, plug the tank outlet  and fill the tank with water.

Next is a full tank as long as the fuel tank or cap has a tight vent so fuel can't slosh out.

Gas by itself won't ignite or explode; it must be in vapor form.

An empty tank is ALL fuel vapor.

  4. The best way is to transport an empty tank. Allow the tank to air dry before packing. Leave the cap on loosely after drying (Use a strip of masking tape to secure the lid to container). Whether with a full tank or an empty tank, any level of liquid will create vapors, pressure, and expansion. The expansion of the liquid causes a "push out" of vapors, and possibly of liquid (think of a can of coke when you pop the top). Although the liquid cannot catch fire, the gas (vapors) can. Even with the container completely dry, transport the container (if possible) outside of the vehicle, protected from rain, moisture, or high heat.  >>>>DO NOT PUT WATER IN YOUR GAS CONTAINER. THIS WILL MAKE IT UNUSABLE UNTIL THE WATER COMPLETELY DRIES OUT!!!<<<< Prior to filling it again, remove the cap, and mimick dumping it out. If any moisture comes out, it is probably condensation due to too many temperature changes. If your generator uses an oil/gas mixture, then that mixture should be drained an dried (as it still contains gasoline). I DON'T OWN A GENERATOR, BUT I KNOW ABOUT GASOLINE AND GAS/OIL MIXTURES. Main thing is, BE SAFE, AND ARRIVE AT YOUR DESTINATION SAFELY. You can always replace damaged equipment, but a life lost cannot be replaced.

  5. empty

  6. I filled mine almost full and forgot about it. That way if the gas expands some it won't come out the vent, that way it is ready to go when you need it. I never had any problems with mine. Think about it if you put water in the tank like some of these people say imagine the problems you are going to have trying to get it started. Also you fill you car or truck full and drive it on the road. If you happen to smell gas when you enter the camper open the windows and air it out.
