What if I want to teach art only 3 or 4 hours a day in a community college or university, how much money will I make?

(and I DON'T want to teach elementary or high school kids)

  1. Not an easy question, because community colleges have different pay rates than universities.  And, they would differ from campus to campus, unless you picked a state university, where the pay rate would be state-wide.

Normally a teacher of a 3 hr course, part time, would make around $2,400  per semester. (about 4 months)

Not much, and there would be no vacation or sick leave for Part-timers, and no health insurance.

Pay is low, because of the glut on the market of people who'd like to teach on the college level, hoping to do well, and be picked up for full-time job.

And they normally do not hire any one without a Master's Degree in the field they teach.

A 3 hr course is 1 and 1/2 hrs, two times a week.  If you are lucky enough to teach two course for 3-4 hrs a day, you'd make about $4,800.  Don't spend it all in one place.
