What is the salary of an iPod engineer?

I have heard some stuff about low salaries and it was sort of confusing seeing as how apple is such a huge company.

A friend of mine is a software engineer for them... turned IBM's $100,000 offer down for Apple's $80,000 offer.  It's probably comparable.

I doubt if anybody starts out at Apple as an iPod engineer. I would expect that you start out "sweeping the floors" i.e. doing smaller less important tasks in the engineering departments.

If you prove yourself a valuable player you will work you way up into the more choice departments and tasks.
