Scientist Implicates Worms in Global Warming

  Jim Frederickson, the research director at the Composting Association has called for data on worms and composting to be re-examined after a German study found that worms produce greenhouse gases 290 times more potent than carbon dioxide.

Worms are being used commercially to compost organic material and is in preference to putting it into the landfill. The German government wants 45% of all waste to be composted by 2015.

"Everybody... thinks they can do no harm but they contribute to global warming. People are looking into alternative waste treatments but we have to make sure that we are not jumping from the frying pan into the fire," said Frederickson.

These are all, things that are being caused by global warming and its to late to do anything about it. I would recommend watching a documentary by horizon on global warming. They are excellent!

There is none.

Fact #1: CO2 could insulate the earth more than nitrogen.

Fact #2: CO2 has increased.

Fact #3: The Earth has warmed.

Conclusion: CO2 causes warming.

That is faulty logic. No one has shown that connection.

There are many basic scientific facts which can only be explained if the current global warming is being caused by an increased greenhouse effect due to carbon dioxide accumulating in the atmosphere from humans burning fossil fuels.

For example, the planet is warming as much or more during the night than day.  If the warming were due to the Sun, the planet should warm a lot more during the day when the Sun has influence.  Greenhouse gases trap heat all the time, so they warm the planet regardless of time of day.  Another example is that the upper atmosphere is cooling because the greenhouse gases trap the heat in the lower atmosphere.  If warming were due to the Sun, it would be warming all layers of the atmosphere.

Scientists have a good idea how the Sun and the Earth's natural cycles and volcanoes and all those natural effects change the global climate, so they've gone back and checked to see if they could be responsible for the current global warming.  What they found is:

Over the past 30 years, all solar effects on the global climate have been in the direction of (slight) cooling, not warming.  This is during a very rapid period of global warming.

So the Sun certainly isn't a large factor in the current warming.  They've also looked at natural cycles, and found that we should be in the middle of a cooling period right now.

So it's definitely not the Earth's natural cycles.  They looked at volcanoes, and found that

a) volcanoes cause more global cooling than warming, because the particles they emit block sunlight

b) humans emit over 150 times more CO2 than volcanoes annually

So it's certainly not due to volcanoes.  Then they looked at human greenhouse gas emissions.  We know how much atmospheric CO2 concentrations have increased over the past 50 years:

And we know from isotope ratios that this increase is due entirely to human emissions from burning fossil fuels.  We know how much of a greenhouse effect these gases like carbon dioxide have, and the increase we've seen is enough to have caused almost all of the warming we've seen over the past 30 years (about 80-90%).  You can see a model of the various factors over the past century here:

This is enough evidence to convince almost all climate scientists that humans are the primary cause of the current global warming.

There are none.

The entire premise of "global warming" is that theoretically, co2 traps heat.  Man creates co2, man must cause "global warming".  

It's far more simplistic than the Earth's actual climate.  As much as you'll hear that the Earth is warming, no one will be able to tell you if 5 years will be warmer or cooler than it is today.  The best guess yet was off by some 300%.

There are no computer models that can predict the future.  It's just a belief that the Earth is going to be warmer.

There's as much science about "global warming" as there was about eugenics.

Climate change is fact. Global warming, as caused by man, is theory. The beef industry's cows contibue the equivalent in greenhouse gases to the atmosphere as the entire worlds automobile sector (An Inconvenient Book). CO2 is the least of the green house gases. Methane is far worse when it comes to heat retention.

I haven't made up my mind what I believe yet, but I have enough sense to read into BOTH sides before forming an opinion.

The fundamental *reason*, discovered some 100 years ago, is that carbon dioxide insulates better than oxygen or Nitrogen.  So that is why we look for evidence.

More evidence comes from Hawaii, where long-term measures show carbon dioxide in the atmosphere actually is measurably increasing.  This is the famous

Al Gore famously documented the retreats of several glaciers in his film.  

Isotope ratios and gas concentrations of ancient atmosphere trapped inside glaciers allow us to see that carbon and temperature have been related for thousands, if not millions of years.  

The science used for global warming is routinely used to predict short-term weather (will it rain today).  

To determine that *this* year is on average, warmer than *last* year, takes *lots* of data, computers, and a data reporting system difficult for any single person to comprehend.
