  1. i dunno abt worldwide but i can surely comment abt india aviation.

ppl say that thers a BOOM in indian aviation....but i cant say d same abt employment for pilots.in india.

normally an airline wud recruit 30 pilots in one go.

for these 30 pilot posts 500-800 ppl r applying.

these days there r too many pilots available for commercial airlines.dats y companies have now become very choosy abt selecting pilots.

d start salaries r also cuming down. previously wen pilots were seriously very hard 2 find der used 2 be walk in interviews n d pilot used 2 demand wat ever they wanted (dey used to get 1-1.3 lakh rupees as start salary)

now the start salaries in many airlines has *** down to 70 thousand rupees.

recently jet airways was recruiting for 30 pilots.

730 ppl applied .....550 of them were selected 2 give a written test of jet airways (they set one of the toughest papers since they r one f d most reputed airlines in india).

out of these 102 ppl were selected(only those who got 90% + in d test) for an interview.

out of these 102 ppl only 30 were selected.

these 30 ppl will sign a bond with the company where the candidate will abide 2 pay for getting themselves trained.(dats almost 15-25 lakhs) for flying an air bus or boeing or else u`ll be asked 2 pay half d amount n d other half will be taken care of by the airline.

if u fail in this training u`ll be chucked out....n u`ll still have 2 pay d amount that u were asked 2 pay cuz u`ve signed a bond with them where u agreed 2 pay.

so dat`ll become a loss of 15-25 lakhs for u.

so imagine 20-25 laksh for getting the licence n den another 15-25lakhs for training urself in a boeing or air bus.

=35-50 lakhs expense n still no job guarantee !!!

n if ur thinkin of becumin a pilot juss becuz of d handsome salary or airhostesses den 4get it cuz d ppl who take ur interview r smart enough 2 find out y ur interested in becumin a pilot.

do it only if ur passionate abt doin it.

lemme tell u that its not at all easy 2 becum a pilot.subjects that u`ll have 2 study are quite difficult.

+u`ll have 2 give a dgca test. only after passing that will u get a licence.

n this test one of the toughest test 2 clear.

almost 90% ppl r unable 2 clear this test in their 1st attempt(cuz its seriously very tough).

if u fail in this test u`ll have 2 give ur nxt test after 6 months

but b4 u can appear for this test u`ll have 2 log 15 hrs of more flying time.

so if ur an indian student n u`ve gone abroad for studies u many have 2 go back 2 ur school 2 get those 15 hrs(uska bhi kharcha for flight tickets n flying tutions= another 1-1.5 lakhs). u can do dat from a local flying club also but den it may take u ages 2 complete those 15 hrs(depending on ur shool)else it may happen soon. NOTE: it has 2 be done within 6 months.

so no matter from where u do ur course ders no job guarantee.

u may get a job soon after ur course or u may even have 2 wait for months n years till u get a job.

it shudn`t affect u if ur a filthy rich fellow.

but if ur from a middle class family and u`ve taken a loan den u mite get into trouble if u wont get a loan soon cuz den u wont have money 2 repay d loan.

so its advisible that u complete ur graduation atleast so that u can atleast work and earn( till the time u get a job as a pilot )so that you can repay ur huge loan of 20-25 lakhs. i must tell u dat many companies give prefference even for graduates.

im not telling u dat u wont get a job or u`l defnately have 2 wait for long till u get a job.... but u must be prepared even for d worst.

  2. It depends on what sort of pilot and aircraft that you are trained to fly in.

You need to expand your question to get a full answer.

May I suggest that you toddle down to the nearest flying school and have a talk to some of the instructors, get the education requirements and explain to them what you would like to do.

Talk to the experts in the flying field. They will enlighten you and may even suggest which field that you can get involved in. You need to get a basic Private pilots License first(PPL)

  3. VERY GOOD!

Most pilots retiring in the US now are from the Vietnam era. Asia is growing with many new airlines.

  4. In the US the industry has changed a lot. This is causing less people to stay in the Field. It used to be you had a good chance of making it to the majors airlines, make high pay for short hours, and have a large retirement package. This has changed a lot since Sept 11th happened. I have seen a lot of good pilots leave the Field all together because of the lack of possible advancement into the majors. Because of the changes there will be a pilot shortage for lot of years still.

  5. Very good scope.

There are so many airport projects sign in.

private plane users are also increasing.
