What is the scope of chemical eng.?

As a chemical engineering student I can give this my best shot from the co-op experience I have had:

Chemical engineers cover a wide range of industries, from petroleum to food to pharmaceuticals to even leading edge technologies.  They are responsible for applying chemical principles to real world situations in order to create a product from raw materials.  This may include large scale chemical plant design or small scale lab design.  These designs have to be designed to optimize performance while minimizing cost.  Also, as an engineer they are responsible for the safety of everyone who uses their designed creation and must always have this in mind.

I myself am loving my decision to go into chemical engineering, it is a fun and exciting program because of the wide range of things that you learn.
