  1. First interview usually gets the preliminary questions out of the way.  If they still think you are going to be a good fit, they usually bring in the people who you may be reporting directly to or the manager of that department to ask you more specific questions as it relates to the actual tasks of that position.

Basically once you get to the 2nd interview, they have some interest in you so it's time to really "wow" them with how your skills can bring value to the position.  You'll be talking to people you will report to or work directly with so be honest, be personable and be knowledgeable.

As far as the type of questions....it varies from job to job so that's impossible to answer.  Just be ready to answer more specific questions including...."when can you start".

  2. a second interview is their chance to test you out a bit further and see how you cope under the extra pressure. Be aware the panel may or may not be the same people and the questions may be more in depth. However it's not unusual to ask the same question again to see if the response is consistent with your last answer. The second interview means they are close to a decision so you need to step up a gear and really impress but remember they have already chosen to bring you back so you must have been good at the first round.  Good luck.

  3. when you apply for a job the employer picks so many to interview.  After the interviews they cut the number of applicants down to a short list maybe 2, 3 or 4.  They then carry out 2nd interviews which are a bit more in depth than the first interview.  And they pick the successful applicant then.

It all depends on the type of job you are going for, but it means that you did okay at the first interview.

    So good luck

  4. You have one interview and the people will decide if you are suitable for the job. If they call you back for a second interview they really like you and your chance of getting the job is very good. They might ask you more detailed questions and explain about the job you have to do in more detail. A second interview just means, they are seriously thinking about offering you the job.

  5. Hello ! usually it's b/c they liked you the first time around and would like to validate their final decision so call you in for the second interview.

Also other reasons are, and important interviewer/hiring manager was not availble during your 1st interview and he needs to meet you before you're hired OR they are aggresively hiring for that position so they had multiple interviews and found more then 1 suitable candidate so 2nd round helps them make their final decision

  6.     Good answers from people above.

I clinched a job at the second interview, because I did some research on the company and asked them questions about their operation, such as how old is the company, how many branches, what are the firms ambitions, and what prospects are there.?
