  1. check

  2. checkmate or king!!!

  3. There is no official name, but the best answer so far is the penultimate move (penultimate meaning second-to-last).  In casual games, the second-to-last move is sometimes "check".  However, very few rated games actually end in "checkmate" - they end in resignation: "The Pre-Resignation Move".

  4. Check and the last move is checkmate.

  5. a mistake

  6. It would not necessarily be check. Many games end in stalemate or draw where a check is not the second to last move. Penultimate would be appropriate though I have never heard that term applied to chess after playing for many years.

  7. checkmate?

  8. when you move a piece to threaten the King you say "Check" and when you are still threatening the king after the other player's turn you move your piece, take the king and say "Checkmate"

  9. Penultimate move?

  10. c**p
