You have to make sure all the same colours are on the same side of the cube.

This can be done by turning it.

for a 3 x 3 rubik's cube. The secret is knowing what color will be in each side. Whatever is the color at the center. That side will be that color.

For standard rubiks cube, yellow is opposite white. Blue opposite green, And red opposite  orange. Start one side first. That will be your base.
