Question:

What is the secret to washing towels?

I wash my lights, darks, and whites seperately. Then I washed all of my towels and bath rags together. Well all of my light colored bath rags and towels got covered in dark color threads. Does this mean I have to wash my light and dark colored towels seperately too? Can I wash my towels and rags with my normal clothes?

Thanks!

  1. after a few washes the prolem should go away

  2. Yup, you'll have to separate the dark towels from the light.

  3. It's better to wash them separartely, especially when they are new.

  4. No, don't wash your towels with normal clothing.  And yes you do have to wash darks and lights seperatly no matter what it is, towel or clothes.  And if you don't have the time to wash them seperatly, wash with cold water.  Warm water makes the colors run.

  5. always separate by color!  if i have too i will include towels with sweats, socks, and undies.  but i try not too.

  6. Good rule that I use is wash, washcloths and towels separately from regular clothes. I have very bright colored towels so I separate them the same as regular wash. Light colored towels can go with light colored clothes, the very bright ones are washed alone. Or you can was the lighter colored towels with light colored linen.

  7. I wash my bath rug separately from the towels. I would also separate dark from lights.

  8. If you don't want this problem separate them.  I don't care about mine that much so I wash them all together on hot.  I don't care what they look like I only want them clean.

  9. I wash my light towels with my light clothes and dark towels with dark clothes and bleach my white towels with my whites. I launder the rugs separately sinse they do shed and I don't dry them in the dryer.
