Someone stole my debit card out of my mailbox and used it, $700.00, and I know who did it. What type of punishment will that person receive?

  1. Forget the "federal crime" comments. It is, but neither the FBI nor the Postal Inspectors are going to work it. It's probably a felony in most states to steal or use a debit card without the owner's permission. It's not a serious felony, pretty much classed with forgery. Probation for a first time felon. Maybe some jail time for someone with a worse record. If you want something done, report it now. Video records are often recycled, and that's how these cases are usually made.

  2. Prison times.

  3. If you have proof, they could be sentenced to federal prison. Call the FBI.

  4. It depends on the state you live in. Not all states have the same guidelines. Although since it involved your mailbox, that makes it a federal offense.

  5. very severe.
