  1. I have this suspicion that it depends on the project. Painting a room would require something a lot different from designing and building a 787 airplane.

  2. Number one is always a process flow diagram.

    Number two is usually a P&ID, and at this point the equipment items for the plant are also specified, sized and let out for bid.

    Number three are plot plans and mechanical equipment layouts, including foundation and structure designs,

    Number four are piping and electrical (power, lighting, etc.) layouts and drawings including supports.

    In addition there could be material hanlding equipment layouts and other systems that might have to be considered
