  1. 4 years of active for the AG rating.  4 years inactive, "What is inactive duty?" you may ask.  Good question. Inactive duty means you are not getting paid and you are not working for the Navy, but if the Navy needs your service they will call you up. Kind of like a draft except you volunteered to be on the list.  This is true in both war time and non war i times.  Once you hit 8 years of service (if you happen to re-enlist) you are no longer required to serve on Inactive duty.  All persons enlisting Active Duty in the Navy are signing up for 8 years, just some Active and the rest Inactive.


  2. all contracts are for eight years total..  anywhere from 4-6 will be Active Duty.  I Think AG is 4 or 5 years.  

  3. 4 years active, 4 years inactive. You would do your training for 3 months at Kesser AFB in Bilouxi, MS. Good luck! I was gonna do that job in the Navy! Have fun with it!
