its used to change your strategy and suprise opponents

you use it inbetween matches.

it has to always stay at 15 cards, so inbetween duels you can swap cards from your deck with cards from your side deck, 1 for 1 so it stays at 15

A side deck consists of 15 cards. NO LESS!!!... or more... .If you're doing a tournoment style duel, (best 2 out of 3), you can exchange cards from your deck with the side deck.... but, the side deck has to have 15 at all times.

thats what its mainly used for!
