  1. to breed tru-to-type progeny, this means that the offspring would be exactly like the parent. this is significant to single-celled organisms and dioecious plants which all reproduce through mitosis (except if mutation butts in hehe)

this would be advantageous especially in livestock and farming; crops that are dioecious and are of good quality can be propagated thus producing all high-quality progeny like the parent, was that exampe clear to you?

i hope i was able to be of help :D best of luck

  2. Mitosis is a type of cell division for growth and repair of body tissues. It is important that the new cells formed during mitosis receive the identical chromosome complement as the parent cell so that they receive the correct genetic code for protein synthesis. DNA replication occurs prior to cell division to ensure that the new cells receive the same number and type of chromosomes as the parent cell. If they receive the incorrect chromosome number or type it can mean that cells lack coding for essential proteins eg enzymes, meaning that the new cells cannot function properly.

    Hope this helps!
