What is the significance of sociology and anthropology?

sociology- the study of social systems/structures (e.g. institutions etc)

anthropology: the study of people and culture (i.e. humanity)

both are important and provide insight into the phenomenon of people. society and the way the all 'relate' with each other etc

I took both types of classes in college and from a personal perspective it seems that sociology has a broader, theorectical approach and cultural anthropology focused more practical, hands on study of one particular society or comparitive study.   I loved studying in both departments because they complement each other so well.
